Cardiff, Wales.

This weekend I took a trip to Cardiff, Wales. The weather was beautiful when I drove from East Grinstead and the roads were fine.
I had gotten som erims and tyres off e-bay som I started off by picking them up in just west of Cardiff, then I drove into town.

Nice and contemperary.

Nudles with salmon. Good shit:-)
Shopping in Cardiff is great. Here I am trying on a pair of Carvela shoes. Really sassy shoes, but my foot was too thin(?) for it. Or something. Impossible to walk with anyway:-)

I parked my car outside the hotel over the day. So I had a 30 minute walk back. Nice scenery.

At 17.00 I started my drive back to East Grinstead. Halfway a snowstorm came along and queues started on all major roads towards London. I was stuck on the M4 on junction 10. Took 3 hours to go from Junction 10-11. That should take 5 minutes. The trip from Cardiff should have taken 3 hours but instead it took 7!!!
Lesson learned: ALWAYS check if a snowstorm is coming if you are on the road in the UK:-)

Tomorrow morning I´m off to Malaga. Hopefulle the ice on the runway will have cleared and the planes go as usual.
My old mate gabriel is stuck there since 5 this morning. Hes doing the same trip I am tomorrow...

Winter wonderland!

It´s been snowing a whole lot the last week. I took a bike ride on Monday and it was cold and frosty.

On Friday the snow was a fact. It´s actually quite funny. It was snowing and suddenly nobody could get to work. No doctors or patients. It was really calm in clinic and outside was really gorgeous.

The view from the room I was working in on Friday.

My way to work friday morning. It´s not really like you´r snowed in or anything. 10 cm of snow and England does´t work:-)

Building a house

This weekend I took a trip to Sweden. I had a great weekend celebrating Johans birthay, playing with Ralf and eating good food:-) And ofcourse I had to check out the progress of the house.

At the same time as I am in the UK, Johan is doing a brilliant job sorting out all the house project. As the pictures show it looks as if it´s ready. The reality is that it´s far from...
I have been gone three months and the things that are done to the house are massive but can´t really be seen.

View from livingroom. The sea is just infront:-)
Ralf playing with his ball.

Johan, Karin and Ralf walking towards the house.

It´s still alot to do. The inside needs a lot of work...

The frost killed my car!!!

Woke up this morning and looked out. Frost...
Could have been ok exept from my car was protesting. Had the morning off so I decided to go into town to fix some stuff.
First of all my car wouldn´t open. After a long time I finally mamaged to get into the car. Then next problem. The freakin car does´t start! The housing manager Roger called AA and the came to have a look at the car and decided that the batteri was dead. No shit sherlock.

I took my bike and went for a ride in the area to clear my head. The sun was shining and the frost was leaving smoke like evaporation on the fields. The scenery just makes me smile:-)

Got back and decided that I wasn´t gonna fuzz with the car anymore. I called a mechanic who is coming tomorrow to sort out the car. 100pounds...

Jobwise I was clerking patients for operation tomorrow with Mr Collyer and Brian Bisase. 4patients in total, where 2 of them are bimaxillary osteotomies. They are both classIII.
Videoclip on what it´s all about.

Windsurfing in Chichester - West Wittering and Pagham

Takes about 1h 30 min to drive to Chichester. After 5 trips I know the way there in my sleep:-)

Pagham
29 Nov
I drove to Pagham Sunday morning for some windsurfing and the first thing I see at the spot is this car. A "pimped" Ford Ka:-)

I came close to low tide. The wind was SSW with gusts over 49mph. Almost sideshore it looked quite good! Suddenly almost everybody came out of the water. The wind had gone ballistic. I rigged my 2.9 and went out. First my harnesline broke. A nice surfshopowner from Pagham had a couple my size, so I got them for a fiver:-) Might have been LARWatersports shop?
After a while I was out again. The wind increased all the time. After 1h I was really struggling. It was survivalsurfing and that sucks bigtime:-)
The spot absolutely has potential. Quite clean waves. I´ll give it another try on S winds!

West Wittering
15, 16, 22, 23 November I went for daytrips to West Wittering.
I have only used my 2.9 sail som far. This spot seems to work best on W winds and low tide getting to high tide as the waves get cleaner. Its a long walk though!!!
Of 4 days I have sailed 17hours and 7 of them have been really nice with sun, no rain, nice waves, no crowds, 4m waves. 4 stars out of 5.

Wet and muddy...
Sun is shining for a little while:-)

Nice venue to rig down on. Quite cold though.

Irland 7-11 November

7-11 November I met up with the Boys in Brandon Bay, Irland.
I flew from Gatwick to Shannon, whitch is a 2 hour drive to Brandon bay.Jesper shows how a surfmobile is supposed to look like:-)
Gotta have some breakfast:-)

The waves in this bay are approximately 3 meters high. Looks quite tiny when your standing on the top.
Gorgeous scenery. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Untouched and just gorgeous.

With this camera you would hope for some pic, ey?

Johan getting some air:-)

In total: 5h surfing and 1h windsurfing.

All in all I had a great time. A lot of surfing, spotchecking and good company. Thanx boys for a great time!
I´ll definetly go back!!!

Cornwall day 2

I woke up at 6.00. Ate breakfast and was down at the beach at 7.00. No wind! There was actually one windsurfer in the water hoping for som surf, but he had to see himself defeated I guess:-)

I decided to go sightseeing untill the wind was supposed to show.
I started off with Penanze and then drove to Lands end. An amazingly gorgeous place.

St Ives. A cozy little fishervillage with loads of hills:-)

The wind didn´t turn up at all so I went back to East Grinstead. The really good prognosis was for the next day, so I wasn´t too happy about that.
Hopefully Irland will deliver some fat waves and good vind.

Cornwall day 1

Saturday 31 oct I decided to go to Cornwall for some windsurfing. The prognosis looked fine for Sunday and Saturday so I decided the five hour drive was worth it!
I booked a bed & breakfast at http://www.bostraseholidays.co.uk/

After breakfast I got down to Marazion and checked out the action. The wind and waves were westerly.
http://www.boardseekermag.com/wnews/show/1/2103

I had a 4 hour windsurfing with 55l board and 3,3 sail. Sideshore, 3m waves and a whole lotta good surfers around:-)

After the tide came up the beach soon emptyed.
I decided to try to find another spot.
I went to Gwithian. Nice waves no wind.

Then I tryed The Bluff. Same there. I had a godd days surf so I decided to take it easy the rest off the day. Tomorrow looks like early morning...

Working saturday

Saturday and I have been working. It was super. I was with Reg/Consultant Luke Cascarini. The day just flew by. I got to extract/op half of the teeth. It was just cool!
Hallways of the hospital. How many hospitals have manmade parkett? Superfancy:-)

The weather was gorgeous, so I took a bike ride. As usual I took a wrong turn and ended up way past where I had a map.
It ended up being a great ride. Nice scenery.
Took about 3 h.

Tomorrow I´m off to visit Sofia in London.

Another day in paradise?

Working all day. Had the bleep, which means taking all kinds of phonecalls from dentists, patients, other hospitals or departaments to sort out wounded or patients with problems. It takes a lot of knowing about different diagnoses and treatment which I´m learning as I go. I have been here for two weeks now and you could say that there is a steep learning curve:-)

In the afternoon I had clinic where I met patients and try to sort out treatment plans.

One of the greatest things about this place is the library. It gives you a calm forfilling energy when you´r in there. The shelves are filled with Dental , Maxillofacial, Plasticsurgery, Orthopedic and all sort of medicine stuff. Its absolutely great!!!
I´ll be spending a lot of time in here, I guess:-)

Anatomi and physiology of the respiratorysystem was the lesson of the day.

Then off to a gym session at the gym. http://www.lafitness.co.uk/
They got a really crappy gym, but they have a pool. So I did some back and shoulders, then I swam for 30min.

Tomorrow I´m going offsite to Maidstone...Then I might go to a pub to meet the bicycle club http://www.egcc.net/

Cykeltur

Today I finished a little earlier at work. I got to extract some wisdomteeth then I finished at 16.30.
It was a fairly nice day out, so I took my bike for a ride. Took me about three hours to cruise around. The roads are quite bad. Some nice scenery though:-)

I have bought myself a pullup bar. I always really wanted one, so there.
I did a crossfit round yesterday to try it out. I did "cindy". In 20 minutes do a round of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 airsquats, and start over again. I managed to do 17. Close to puking after that:-)

A snapshot of me in the kitchen. Its small but ok!:-)

After the bike ride I was really hungry. Andrew was on his way to pick up pizza. Wasn´t really diggin that. I went over to Sainsbury´s and ended up buying loads of stuff. I made fresh pasta with basil, mozarella, tomatoes, olive oil and serrano ham. It was brilliant...Mmmmm
