Hawaii day 1

After about 30h of travel we finally arrived in Kahului, Maui. at 10pm.
Frank had left us the rental car just outside the airport so we quickly loaded the Suzuki with our gear and drove to the house in Paia.

The crib was the same as last year and Clarence gave us the keys and some food as we were starving.
We were soo tired so we fell asleep really quickly.

Our first day consisted in eating breakfast, groceries shopping, sorting out our surfgear and least but not last some surfing:-)

Johan's board had a ding in the tail, so Rille and Johan spent some time in repairing the board. First try failed...

We spent the afternoon looking for a good spot to do some windsurfing. The waves were westerly so the swell looked really strange. There were no windsurfers or surfers out in Hookipa, Kuau or Sprecks. And the wind was really week. The best place seemed like Kanaha.

We had some nice 3m sets rolling in every now and then. I had my 55l board and 4.5m sail. The guys 80l board and 5-5.5m sails. No planing in 2h but some waves were supernice at times :-)

In the evening I went for a short run to test my form. I have to run a lot more to manage a marathon in 2 months...

I am sooo happy to be back:-)

Lesson of the day: Maui's population is 117.000
